Bäckaskog Castle, Sweden | August 1 - August 8, 2013
After an amazing week of inspiring lectures and posters, sustained by Bäckaskog Castle's healthy supply of sumptuous food and wine, the Third International Conference of Invertebrate Vision finally (and sadly) came to end on August 8th. Two further fascinating days of lectures and posters followed at the STINT satellite Symposium on Vision in Dim Light (which brought together researchers working on both vertebrate and invertebrate visual systems). Together, the two meetings constituted a landmark event in international Visual Science. All were in agreement that the conferences were a major success, and this is in no small part due to the exceptional quality of the scientific contributions and to the care and warmth shown by our wonderful hosts at Bäckaskog Castle.
Our most heartfelt thanks go to our Academic Advisory Board, our Scientific Program Committee and to all the fantastic members of our invertebrate vision community who came to Bäckaskog to present their latest work! Thanks to all of you for an absolutely unforgettable conference! We are already looking forward to the next conference in a few short years from now! Watch this space!
Our warmest regards and deepest gratitude,
Eric, Dan and Anna
